Inside an unsuspecting brick building on Logan, Globe Hall is serving up some of the best barbecue (and probably the best brisket) in Denver. Globeville locals rub elbows with leather-clad bikers, hipsters, and older couples in a wood-paneled bar decorated sparingly with touches like a wrestler doll riding a harnessed plastic dinosaur and a blanket depicting wolves pinned to the wall.
Bisecting the space around the dinner hour, is a line of hungry patrons ordering meats and sides from the bar. Moments later, the cooks slide their food out on plastic trays from a cafeteria window. Guests take their trays to the adjacent dance hall where they sit on plastic cafeteria tables. What ensues is meat-trance—a coma-like state induced by slabs of incredible brisket, thick ribs sporting a robust skin of spicy rub, and saucy pulled pork, all tossed in Globe Hall’s addictive black peppery sauce.
Post barbecue-trance, you might recover with a solid Mule or Marg. The ambitious might consider a slice of Banoffee Pie. And everyone, if they stay late enough, will chase their barbecue with dancing. Globe Hall hosts live music almost every night it’s open, as well as special acts like burlesque shows.
When manufactured dining experiences and overplayed trends wear you down, head to Globe Hall for a refreshing serving of genuinely good food, drinks, and fun.
